2010 Call for Presentation Proposals
Fields marked with [*] are required

We are very excited to announce that the California Library Association (CLA) and the California School Library Association (CSLA) are collaborating this year to bring the library community one joint conference. Library professionals and supporters from all segments of the profession and all parts of the state will come to Sacramento November 12-15, 2010 to learn, network, and enjoy. This year's conference theme is "Navigating the New: Charting the Future Together," and both Associations are excited to offer this historic opportunity to our library community.

To edit proposal submission
Only the primary presenter may edit the proposals. If you have additional presenters please use the primary presenters email and zip that was provided in the confiramtion email to edit the proposal. The primary presenter will be the only one who will be receiving the confirmation email. You may re-login by clicking here.

We have many goals this year to:

  • Inform, delight, and engage the attendees.
  • Extend content beyond the walls of the conference center.
  • Provide a hands-on experience as part of the learning process.
  • Provide sessions that address the growth of social media and technology.
  • Provide opportunities for conversation among attendees beyond traditional networking.
  • Create the "Must Attend" Conference of the Year!

CLA is seeking presenters who are professionals, paraprofessionals, exhibitors, or library supporters to submit proposals for Concurrent Sessions and/or Institutes. Please keep these goals in mind as you submit your proposal for consideration.

Procedures for submitting a concurrent session proposal:

  • Session proposals are accepted online only.
  • All fields with an asterisk (*) must be completed or the proposal will not be considered.
  • Session titles must clearly communicate the content of the program.
  • Concurrent Sessions are 60 minutes in length.
  • Institutes are two or six hours in length.
  • Spell out abbreviations or acronyms for institutions, school names, job titles, or cities.
  • Proposals must be submitted to CLA by Monday, April 19, 2010.
  • All submitters will be notified of the status of their proposal(s) by June 1, 2010.

Content of Submission

Please make sure to reflect your presentation AV needs accurately in your proposal. Room assignments are based on AV needs and last minute AV requests may not be possible. Once the onsite program has been printed, it will be difficult to make any room/AV changes.

Commercial Presentations
CLA concurrent sessions are learning experiences and are to remain free of commercial influence. Vested interest in concurrent session content does not prevent a proposal from being accepted, but the relationship must be disclosed and there must be a Librarian as a co-presenter. Sales of products/materials are to be conducted in the exhibit hall and only within contracted booth space.

Commitment
Sharing your knowledge is a valuable contribution to the profession and to the participants of your concurrent session. If you are selected to speak during this year's Conference, please view this engagement as you would any other professional commitment. With the exception of emergency situations, personal or business, we request your full commitment.

Communication
Communications from CLA will be via email and directed to the primary presenter. Primary presenters will be responsible for communicating information from CLA to their additional presenters, if any. Valid email address are required for all presenters and the primary presenter must be indicated.

Review and Acceptance Process
Each proposal is reviewed by a team of peers selected by CLA's Conference Committee. Criteria will include, but is not limited to: timeliness and relevancy of content, educational value of content, thorough and professional proposal, and experience of presenter(s). All submitters will be notified of the status of their proposal(s) by June 1, 2010.
